This Northern California original 450SL recently came out of its unbroken one family 44 year ownership. Most recently it was passed from mother to daughter.

Comes with color keyed hardtop. The brown canvas top appears to be a replacement in excellent shape with vibrant color showing no rips, tears or fraying.

The paint shows excellent preservation and appears mostly original. This rare color, Cayenne Orange has a deep bright shine and mirror like appearance with the single stage paint Mercedes executed in the 70s era. All body panels and shut lines are even and correct.

The original dash pad has a few small cracks. Parchment MB Tex upholstery is in presentable condition and has supple shape with only minor nicks and expected wear. Door cards are clean and crisp. Loop carpet is original in nice shape. An aftermarket radio and antennae were installed by prior owner. Original first-aid kit stowed in rear area.

Excellent drive quality. Nice torquey even acceleration. Smooth shifting all the way through the factory 3 speed transmission. Good supple suspension feel. Steering tracks even and straight. Solid responsive braking. Having visually inspected the underside there are no fluid leaks to note.

AC service completed upon acquisition. The 134 freon blows cold and correct on all fan speeds.

Matching steel wheels wear new correctly sized tires.

Subframe update has been completed.

Previous ownership history, unfortunately, was not retained because it was misplaced during a recent residential move. We have all service records of work done since our acquisition. Available for review.

Comes with 2 key fobs, original manual, spare tire, jack, tool roll, and convertible tools.

Delivered in a rare color scheme of anthracite grey over less common red leather interior – A stunning contrast. The vehicle was recently acquired from a private collection. Original red dash-pad shows no cracks. The matching hard top has been kept well preserved with an extra clean headliner. The previous owner had a full re-paint executed in the factory color to an exceptional standard. The paint work shows deep, lustrous and soft to touch. Red and black highlighted pinstripes contrast perfectly.

The red leather overall is in good condition for age and use. We had the seat bottoms rebuilt to return a crisp and tighter factory appearance. Carpet is bright in nice condition. Center console wood still has shiny clear laquer.

AC blows cold on the converted 134 system and is fully operational.

A replacement black soft top was installed in 2012 evidenced with invoice.

AM/FM Becker Grand Prix Radio appears to be from a slightly newer Mercedes model period correct circa early 1980s. It is in working condition. The Hirschmann antennae goes up and down properly.

14 inch alloy bundt style wheels were refurbished to like new condition. Bridgestone tires show some wear.

Engine bay is very tidy. Trunk carpet is bright, in good shape and clean. The original spare tire has never been used evidenced by original factory sticker in place.

The motor starts on cue every time. Top notch shift quality smooth and crisp through the 3 speed automatic transmission. Steering has no play. Suspension feels supple and tight. Acceleration torque is strong. There are no fluid leaks to note.

Full set of factory hand books, 3 original huff key fobs, records, competent service history including MB authorized dealership and independent MB expert shops. Comes with original First-Aid kit, MB convertible tools, original alloy Michelin spare tire and jack.

Final model year 450SL. Recent acquisition from original owner’s wife. He was an oil executive with multiple residences in the USA.

All original glass and chrome in excellent condition. Original dash pad is free of cracks and shows perfect condition. Zebrano wood shows nice glossy finish with darker color center consul and trim on dashboard. Original Becker Mexico AM/FM Cassette in good working condition. Hirschman Antennae goes up and down without issue. A kinder rear seat was installed in matching grey color with 2 safety belts. Most rest of world cars were optioned with this set up.

Excellent drive quality as one would anticipate Mercedes engineering to feel at this lower mileage. The vehicle has impressive acceleration at all speeds, good steering, excellent shift quality and a firm suspension. It just feels correct and well maintained.

The blue original factory soft top is in very good shape. Comes with matching hard top in excellent condition with like new looking interior headliner, excellent chrome and MB glass.

Factory alloy 14 inch bundt wheels in nice condition wear an older set of Michelin tires with plenty of tread.

Recent oil and filter service.

Ice cold AC that’s already been converted to 134 freon. Blows properly on both fan speeds.

Full undercarriage and engine bay deep cleaning just completed.

Complete set of original issue hand-books and manuals. MB Service booklet with stamps for vehicle service history showing dates / mileage, factory build sheet etc. 2 original key fobs.
