Sold new in Carlsbad, CA. by Hoehn Motors-Mercedes Benz. Final model year USA 450SL Just arrived in this rare color scheme, Thistle Green over Cream. Beautiful looks and extensive service history. We have a 3 ring folder full of records, spanning 4 decades back to new purchase in 1980, that has been preserved through prior ownership.

Paint shows bright shine and luster soft to touch. Thistle Green is impressive to the eye.

All orignal MB glass. The brightwork shows well with a few close up nicks. 

A cream interior is an excellent contrast inside the cabin. We installed new OEM replacement MB-Tex seats in matching cream (235). Additionally, we had the seats fully refurbished including rebuilt springs and new padding. The original dash-pad shows no damage. The wood still has nice deep color and presents well. Door cards look to be in excellent condition. The matching lighter cream stock carpet shows well. 

Fluids and oil recently changed and gear shift bushings replaced.

The brown soft top was replaced according to records in 2001. The canvas shows very well as it appears to have been sparsely used.

Still wearing the factory issued 14 inch Bundt style alloy wheels in nice condition. Correctly sized BF Goodrich tires showing negligible wear. 

Extra clean trunk, light color original carpet shows excellent shape and spare tire well is ultra clean.

Full Handbooks, data card and build sheet. 2 original keys including valet key.

Spare tire, tool roll, jack, tire iron and convertible tools all present.

An exceptional example that was originally purchased in Northern California by Robert Miller Photography, its first owner, and lovingly cared for until 2014 when it changed hands. We have the original invoice and original window sticker. We are impressed at the condition and preservation on this vehicle and you will be hard pressed to find an equal.

The Signal Red paint shows very nice deep shine and luster. The chrome, rubber and trim look excellent. A matching hard top with high quality original headliner and superb glass and trim included.

The original issue Mercedes Wopavin black soft is in perfect condition as evidenced by its sparse usage and careful storage in the spotless convertible top compartment.

Exceptional interior with a flawless original dashpad. The instrument cluster markings and bright orange needles could easily rival vehicles with 1/2 the mileage. Original black leather upholstery still holds it’s supple look and feel and has a soft touch evidencing no dye or sun damage. Zebrano wood looks new with deep color and flawless lacquer finish free of blemishes or cracking. Carpets are perfect with even black color. Door cards do not show multiple heat and cold cycles on the trim. Equipped with an original AM/FM Becker cassette radio still in good working condition.

Undercarriage looks exactly how one would expect an extremely well preserved California Mercedes to look – clean and free of corrosion.

Excellent condition 14 inch bundt alloy wheels.

Original window sticker, original purchase invoice. MB service booklet is stamped with history showing dates, mileage and work completed. All handbooks and original owner’s metal plate and First Aid-Kit. Original spare, jack and tool roll.

Wonderful new arrival to our line-up is this 1978 450SL in classic Signal Red over Parchment interior from California. An incredible looking example with stunning appeal and high level original preservation. Fully documented back to new purchase in Ontario, California. It would be a safe to say this vehicle has never spent a night outside of a garage.

Excellent paint depth luster and shine. Very smooth to touch and consistently even across all panels. Straight as an arrow and correct gap space from panel to panel. Getting very difficult to find in this condition especially trailing back into the 1970’s. Excellent chrome and all original MB glass. A few minor chips can be seen near the driver door edge. Untouched trunk bolts.

The original dash-pad is flawless without one imperfection or crack. All door cards are well preserved, unfaded and the carpet is nice throughout. The wood trim shows like new condition. The Parchment upholstery is original and plush looking nearly perfect with no rips, tears or fading. Hard-top headliner is excellent. The original issue Becker AM/FM system has never been altered. The AC system was converted to 134a system upon our acquisition and blows cold.

Orignal 14 inch factory alloy Bundt wheels are wrapped over a new set of Hankook tires.

The engine bay is super clean and all vehicle ID and numbers data plate are still correctly in place on the radiator support. Drive quality is as expected on this slightly broken in motor. Nice torque, supple suspension, tight steer tracking and responsive braking.

Complete set of handbooks and MB service booklet with history. 2 original Huff keys including round valet key. Includes original dealership metal ID tag. Original convertible tools. Spare and jack are stowed in trunk. You will be hard pressed to find an equal caliber example in this condition.
